FAQ
Questions and straight answers.
Everything callers ask before sending a first job, answered the way we would say it on the phone.
What is anodizing?
Anodizing is an electrochemical treatment that converts the aluminum surface into aluminum oxide, a hard protective layer. It can stay clear with a matte finish or take dye for black and color work.
What do you anodize?
We anodize machined aluminum parts. That focus is why the finish quality and the turnaround hold.
What is your lead time?
Standard turnaround is 3 to 4 days, depending on size, quantity, and colors.
Can I have it done today?
Expedited service is available, as fast as same day. Expedite requests get answered by text, so call or text the shop.
Do you pick up and deliver?
Yes, within a 100 mile radius of Paoli. That covers Indianapolis, Bloomington, Columbus, Louisville, Evansville, and Terre Haute.
What colors can you do?
Red, green, blue, orange, brown, gold up to 14k, and custom color matching on request. See the color anodizing page.
What is chem film?
A chemical conversion coating, run to MIL-DTL-5541, that protects aluminum from corrosion while keeping it electrically conductive. It is also a common base under paint.
Do you run military specs?
Yes. MIL-A-8625 for anodize, MIL-DTL-5541 for chem film, plus AMS 2482 and NASA/JSC PRC specifications. Our CAGE code is 9CSF4.
Can you mask and plug features?
Yes, to your print. Threads, bores, sealing faces, and contact surfaces stay bare where the drawing says so.
What are your minimum fees?
Minimums depend on the required services, so we quote each job from the print and the count.
What do you not do?
Painting, powder coating, black oxide, electroless nickel, and hard chrome. If your part needs one of those, we will say so up front.
