01 / Anodizing services

The anodizing services we run in Paoli

Everything on this list happens in our own tanks, on our own floor. Nothing gets brokered out to another shop, which is why we can quote a date and then hold it. If your drawing calls out a process below, send it over and you will have a number back by email.

Most of what leaves here is Type II anodizing in clear or black, but the shop is built to handle the harder end of the work too: hard coat for parts that wear, PTFE impregnation for parts that slide, and Alodine chem film for parts that have to stay electrically conductive. Quality control checks each batch as it moves through the line, not only at the end, so the parts you reorder in October match the ones we shipped you in March.

Industries we serve

Everything here is business to business. Parts arrive from a machine shop that needs a finishing partner, or from a manufacturer's purchasing desk with a print and a delivery date attached. Around eighty companies send us work on a regular basis, and most of them came to us on another customer's recommendation rather than through advertising.

03 / The shop

A family owned anodizing shop, thirteen years in

AnoPRO is owned and run by Matthew and Kendall Knight, with six people on the floor. It is a small shop by design. When you call, you get somebody who has racked parts, and when something is going to be a problem, you hear about it from us before it becomes your problem.

Matthew puts it this way: the job is solving customer problems and making your workflow predictable. That is what he means by second mile service, and it is the standard here, not an upgrade you pay for. Anybody can sell you a finish. What is harder to buy is a vendor who does not become your bottleneck, and that is what the shop is organized around.

04 / Specifications

Specification pages, written for the engineer holding the drawing

If your print carries a callout rather than a process name, start here. Each page explains what the specification actually requires, what each element of the callout means, and how we run it. They were written because engineers search the bare specification number and usually find a PDF paywall instead of an answer.

05 / Questions

Questions we answer on the phone every week

How long does anodizing take?

Standard turnaround is 3 to 4 days from the day your parts reach our dock in Paoli. If a job is urgent we expedite it, as fast as same day. Tell us the date you need the parts back when you send the request for quote, and we will tell you straight away whether we can hold it.

Do you pick up and deliver aluminum parts?

Yes, anywhere inside a 100 mile radius of Paoli, Indiana. That circle covers Indianapolis, Bloomington, Columbus, Louisville, Evansville, and Terre Haute. Your parts leave your dock on our truck and come back finished, so there is no crating, no freight carrier, and no terminal time in either direction.

What metals do you anodize?

Machined aluminum parts, and only machined aluminum parts. We do not anodize steel or titanium. Keeping the shop to one metal is the reason the finish quality and the 3 to 4 day clock both hold, and it is worth saying plainly so nobody ships us parts we cannot run.

Do you anodize to military specifications?

Yes. We anodize to MIL-A-8625 in Type II and Type III, and we run chemical conversion coating to MIL-DTL-5541. We also support AMS 2482 for PTFE impregnated hard coat and the NASA/JSC PRC process specifications. Our CAGE code is 9CSF4 and our NAICS code is 332813.
